The following FAQs about hiring a furniture hoist or platform, should answer most of your questions
A furniture hoist is also known as a lifting hoist, removal lift, furniture crane or elevator crane, and our mobile furniture hoists can be used to lift a maximum weight of 400Kg in any one lift. Furniture, white goods (Fridges, freezers washing machines), packing cases, boxes, pianos (grand or upright), awnings, building materials and much more.
The furniture hoist load carrier/platform can be opened out from its standard box shape to a platform shape. Long items like awnings would use the platform shape whilst compact items would use the box shape.
A general rule is that a space 5-6m long and 3-4m depth is required. This will vary depending on factors such as how high or low the access point is. The vehicle/hoist has to be placed directly beneath the access point on the building.
This is the point on the building that we have to reach and from where the items will be added to or removed from the box/platform. This is usually a window or balcony.
If you are unsure as to the suitability and necessary position of the hoist/elevator, give us a call us to discuss your requirements in detail. Often we can get a good view on Google Maps. You can also email mail pictures.
Usually setting up in position is straightforward providing there is adequate space and there are no obstructions impeding the line from the hoist to the access point. we would usually be ready within 10-15 minutes of arrival on site.
You are hiring the hoist plus the operator. Any additional labour required to place items on/off the platform should be provided by you. We can provide such labour at an additional cost.
It is our responsibility to ensure that the elevator/hoist is installed correctly and can operate safely within the manufacturers rated capacities and limitations. We always reserve the right to refrain from using the equipment if our operator deems it unsafe to do so. Examples would be consistently high winds or where the ground surface is icy. The operator can also judge a particular load or item as unsafe to load on to the elevator/hoist.
We cannot be held responsible for:
It is the hirer’s responsibility to ensure the suitability of any balcony or building to support the elevator and that the area directly below and in line with the loading point (Access Point) is clear and stable for the elevator to stand and be deployed.
It is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the items can be moved through the access point.
It is the responsibility of the hirer to obtain any suspensions/dispensations to enable the hoist to park directly below the Access point. We recommend 2 car spaces. Any parking penalties incurred where no such permit has been obtained are the responsibility of the hirer.
Unless you are an account customer with us the minimum 1 hour charge must be paid by debit/credit card at the point of booking. Where hirers book for a certain number of hours then the full amount due must be similarly paid upon booking.
The hoist is suitable for use by just about any person, industry or business organisation.
I am sure there are a few missed off but just about any organisation or individual can benefit by using our hoists. Making it easier, safer and faster.
